“Saw the Exploited a few times at The Mayflower. Always great gigs. I was pretty bloody impressed how tight they were. Really excellent band. Saw them at a few other places too. Long time ago.”

“Love these photos. Takes me right back. I started going to the Mayflower Club when I was about 15. I actually saw Discharge, Anti-Pasti, Chron Gen, Damned, UK Subs, Cockney Rejects, Exploited, Crass, Conflict and a bunch of others. I always got my ticket usually a quid from Record Peddler on Swan Street. Jesus H Christ it's another world away in relation to the time past but I absolutely loved it in that mad place. Apart from the odd ruck with New Romantics, the odd pisshead or moronic skins it was feckin gold.”

“I absolutely loved this shop. First discovered it when I was 15 around 1981ish. I bought my Mayflower tickets from here and as far as my memory serves me the paper was very similar to raffle tickets but obviously not raffle tickets hahahaha.
I bought Feeding Of The 5000 by crass on Small Wonder for £2. It's worth a bit more nowadays I believe. Yes I still have it ; )))

Record Peddler....wow X

“I used to buy my Mayflower club tickets, which were like blotting paper here, and bought quite a few punk albums from here too. One image sticks in my mind about this place, and that is they were really friendly and also they had a huge Tom Petty poster in there. Okay that's a bit vague but hey it's a lifetime ago.”

“I remember this place well. I went in a few times for a brew etc, usually on the way to the mayflower club after getting tickets from the Record Peddler. Good days, really really good days. Also, and I kid you not me and my buddies met Vi Subversa here around 82-83. We were an anarchist punk band and were asking her about xntrix records etc and a possible use of their studio. Nowt came of it! She was really lovely and very motherly honestly. Oh to go back in time hey? ????”

“I remember this band well. Only saw them twice at the Big Surrey in Glossop and my brother had a 4 track tape of theirs and I think one of the songs was called Trip To The Moon I think. Really good solid rock band. I remember my buddies and me approaching the big Surrey and the singer was belting out "only the crumbliest flakiest chocolate" it was brilliant and funny. Good days. So long ago. Different bloody world. Over n out!!!”
